Family Valentine Ideas for Young Hearts

Homemade Valentines are the best. Combine some glue with a heart-shaped paper doily and red construction paper, and, admit it, you've got a tender moment.
But if you and your kids are looking to do something a little different yet original this Valentine's Day, there are lots of places to turn on the web for ideas for making Valentines. Here are a few ideas from my favorite sites. They may not all be hand-crafted, but they are uniquely designed Valentines.
For Kids: Shutterfly offers a new twist on kids' Valentines featuring favorite cartoon characters. Add a photo of your child to a card with Dora the Explorer, her friend Diego, or SpongeBob SquarePants for a nice touch (50 cents per card for 25 or more). FamilyFun.com has some ready-to-print Valentines that require minimal effort (just a printer full of ink) to get your kids in the Valentine-making spirit. There are some unique hand-made cards, too, like this
cell phone card made with card stock and button candy.
For Mom: A photo book with personal notes, poems, and/or memories put in writing, makes a memorable Valentine. Yes, dad, I'm looking at you. It's a fun thing to do with the kids. Major points. Again, Shutterfly has some nice options, including these
"love books."
Kodak has a new, small photo book in its lineup that is perfect for a sweet something for mom. It's a pocket photo book, starting at $10, which pairs photos with personally written captions.
EnchantedLearning also has some nice do-it-yourself Valentines ideas that kids can make if they've got supplies handy.
For Dad: Kids can make Valentines with a little extra kick for dad —coupons that entitle him to some help from and fun with the kids. FamilyFun has these
Cupid's Coupons that look like actual checks and can be made out for one chore around the house, one game of basketball...whatever dad would like the most.
